Conference June 18 - 22, 2018
Track 1 Additive Manufacturing
The Additive Manufacturing track will focus on material (microstructure/properties), processing, environmental sustainability and quality assurance issues related to additive manufacturing systems. The five symposia in this track covers all variants of the additive manufacturing technology dealing with diverse material systems such as metals, polymers, composites, ceramics and biomaterials. In addition, additive manufacturing process innovations at both the macro as well as the micro/nano-scale will be discussed.
Objectives
Authors and presenters are invited to participate in this event to expand international cooperation, understanding and promotion of efforts and disciplines in the area of Additive Manufacturing. Dissemination of knowledge by presenting research results, new developments, and novel concepts in Additive Manufacturing will serve as the foundation upon which the conference program of this area will be developed. A variety of symposia are available for presentations. All symposia are quality driven. The symposia topics will be posted in July 2017.
Full-length Paper Submission
Authors are encouraged to submit both the abstract and full manuscript on the MSEC2018 website by November 15, 2017. The presenting author must pre-register by April 20, 2018 or the paper will be withdrawn from the conference. No abstracts or papers are to be submitted to the organizers; submissions will only be accepted via the conference website.
Abstract Only Submission
Authors from industry, and ONLY authors from industry, who may not get permission to submit full papers, are allowed to avail of the "Presentation Only" option. To choose this option you must submit your abstract by November 15, 2017. In the abstract indicate that you are choosing to give a "Presentation Only". Faculty and students from colleges/universities as well as researchers from government laboratories are NOT eligible for this option. Symposium organizers will review the abstracts and discuss with the authors to determine if the materials they intend to present are suitable for the conference. Sales pitches are not permitted. If the Symposium organizers approve of your abstract you will be required to send them a copy of your PowerPoint presentation by February 28, 2018 for final review. Your presentation will not be stored, published or distributed without your consent.
Track 2 Manufacturing Equipment and Systems
This track encompasses ten symposia that deal with the latest developments in manufacturing equipment and modern manufacturing systems. More specifically, these symposia deal with active equipment and process control in manufacturing systems as well as with condition-based and predictive maintenance and operations in manufacturing systems. This track also includes symposia covering topics such as cyber physical systems, data analytics/management for intelligent manufacturing systems, and nanomanufacturing systems.
Authors and presenters are invited to participate in this event to expand international cooperation, understanding and promotion of efforts and disciplines in the area of Manufacturing Equipment and Systems. Dissemination of knowledge by presenting research results, new developments, and novel concepts in Manufacturing Equipment and Systems will serve as the foundation upon which the conference program of this area will be developed.
A variety of symposia are available for presentations. All symposia are quality driven. The symposia topics will be posted in July 2017.

Track 3 Processes
The Processes Track focuses on the material processing techniques used in manufacturing components not only from metals but also from other materials such as polymers. Papers presented within the track discuss both traditional and nontraditional manufacturing processes. This track attracts full research papers that contribute to improved component performance and increased manufacturing efficiency. Most articles combine appropriate quantitative analysis, well designed experiments, and/or well verified numerical simulations. There are eight symposia within the Processes Track that cover several advanced topics.
Authors and presenters are invited to participate in this event to expand international cooperation, understanding and promotion of efforts and disciplines in the area of material processing. Dissemination of knowledge by presenting research results, new developments, and novel concepts in Processing will serve as the foundation upon which the conference program of this area will be developed. Track 4 Materials
The Materials track will focus on advances in understanding the role of the material structure in determining manufacturing process outcomes, identifying process-structure relationships underpinning manufacturing processes and resulting structure-property mappings. There are seven symposia within this track that includes topics such as advances in composite material systems, materials for energy technologies, polymer-based material systems and surface/sub-surface characterization of materials.
Authors and presenters are invited to participate in this event to expand international cooperation, understanding and promotion of efforts and disciplines in the area of Materials. Dissemination of knowledge by presenting research results, new developments, and novel concepts in Materials will serve as the foundation upon which the conference program of this area will be developed.
Track 5 Bio and Sustainable Manufacturing
This track encompasses eight symposia that deal with the latest developments in the areas of biomanufacturing and sustainable manufacturing. The topics in biomanufacturing include advances in biomedical devices and the manufacturing of tissue-engineered scaffolds. In the domain of sustainable manufacturing, the symposia cover topics such as system-level sustainability assessment of manufacturing systems and sustainability implications for smart manufacturing.
Authors and presenters are invited to participate in this event to expand international cooperation, understanding and promotion of efforts and disciplines in the area of Bio and Sustainable Manufacturing. Dissemination of knowledge by presenting research results, new developments, and novel concepts in both biomanufacturing and sustainable manufacturing will serve as the foundation upon which the conference program of this area will be developed.
Track 6 Posters
This track will involve presentation of technical posters in various areas of advanced manufacturing research.
Authors and presenters are invited to participate in this event to expand international cooperation, understanding and promotion of efforts and disciplines in all areas of advanced manufacturing research. Dissemination of knowledge by presenting research results, new developments, and novel concepts is the focus of this Posters Track. Two sessions are available for poster presentations. All sessions are quality driven. All research topics are invited to submit posters to one of the two sessions.
Abstract and Poster Submission
Authors are encouraged to submit an abstract on the MSEC2017 website by November 15, 2017. The poster must be submitted by February 28, 2018. Track 7 Joint MSEC-NAMRC Symposia
This track encompasses symposia on advanced manufacturing topics that are jointly sponsored by the two colocated conferences, namely, 2018 International Manufacturing Science & Engineering Conference (sponsored by ASME) and the 46th North American Manufacturing Research Conference (sponsored by SME).
Authors and presenters are invited to participate in this track to expand international cooperation, and understanding in key areas of advanced manufacturing research.
A variety of symposia are available for presentations. All symposia are quality driven. The symposia topics will be posted in October 2017.
This Track is unique compared to the others in that the paper submission format and deadlines are symposiumspecific. The authors are invited to carefully review the call for papers before preparing their manuscripts. The formatting guidelines and submission deadlines are expected to be different based on the lead sponsoring society responsible for the symposium. (Please Do Not Follow the ASME format by default. If the sponsoring society is SME, the authors will be asked to reformat their paper before being considered for review)
